Article writing has long been a strong element of SEO. Writing an article on a subject that's relevant to your business, and publishing it on the web is a great way of gaining valuable hyperlinks to your website. A 'hyperlink' is a link to your site that is triggered by text, ideally a keyword. The more hyperlinks you have coming back to your site, the more the search engines can see the relevence and importance of your website in relation to your chosen keywords.

 

Press releases have the same aim, but with the added benifit of hopefully being picked up by reputable news websites. As the search engines also asses the quality of inbound links, press releases can be a very effective way of gaining the high quality links an SEO campaign requires. Along with RSS feeds and other such news feeds, they can also be a very good tool in pushing quality content out to the masses, of course with the aim of generating more links back to your website.
